Kollel Ohr Yosef bears the illustrious name of Joseph Tanenbaum and is committed to furthering the spiritual growth of the Thornhill community that was his life’s achievement. The Kollel was established with the goal of serving the community as a venue for Torah study and Torah scholarship, at all levels.

At the heart of the Kollel are its avreichim – budding young scholars engaged in the full time pursuit of Torah study. The presence of committed Talmidei Chachamim in the community serves as a paragon to the centrality and the relevance of Torah in Jewish life.

The Kollel feels privileged to be part of a community with a strong commitment to the corresponding ideals of Ahavas Hatorah and Limud Hatorah. In the broader scope of its mission, the Kollel endeavors to serve as a vital communal resource for the growth and enhancement of Jewish Thornhill.
